The painful poignancy of desire

Pain

Eyes swollen shut
By the flow of tears
Out of my control
Rolling on their own
Down to the lump
Blocked in my neck
Even my breathing
Seems to stop expelled
By hiccups of pain
By tremors of shame
Ventriloquating pale lips
Slow-moving hips
Sway with emotion
In a prayer-like motion
The heaving chest
Pierced by stabs
It makes me scream
I want out of this dream
But the knife just thrusts
Till something inside bursts
As hands lost with despair
Pull and tug at my hair.
